From Austria, Michael Haneke's once assistant director makes his feature debut with the long awaited story, 'Michael', about a loner, who holds a boy captive in his basement. Similarly from Austria, a story about a criminal youth after his release from prison in 'Breathing'. 'My Brother the Devil' tells about two young, Egyptian brothers in London's underworld. France and Spain contribute with two stories of fate respectively with 'Café de Flore', which takes place in Canada and France, and 'Spain', which interweaves the destinies of four characters, who are just as individual as the voices of European film.
